Tay Son - Binh Dinh Festival 2008 of national magnitude |
An event to mark the 235th anniversary (1773-2008) of the Tay Son insurgent army’s occupation which began the country’s unification process under the Tay Son Dynasty will take place from August 1 to 3.
The Binh Dinh provincial Department of Culture and Information held a press conference on January 24. Van Trong Hung, Director of Binh Dinh Department of Culture and Information, vice head of organising committee, confirmed at the conference that although the event is a provincial festival, the content and activities are of national magnitude.
The highlight of the festival will be incense and flowers offering to the Tay Son Tam Kiet shrine, the opening artistic variety programme on August 1, the 2nd international celebration of the century – long struggle for self-defence from August 1-3, the final Dao Tan classical drama competition on August 2, the gala night of flower garlands and coloured lanterns on August 2 and the beauty contest final.
